Built Maryland, California, USA in 1952 where she worked as a tug before being brought to Southampton UK to be used as a ferry. Many interesting historic documents come with this cruising home.
brought to Medway 15 years ago and converted into a liveable home, but still remaining to be a fully seaworthy vessel complete with nearly new (88 hours) Rolls Royce diesel.
She has a 50 gallon fresh water tank with a powerful water pump providing good water flow to the shower and kitchen. Santiago’s hot water boiler is supplied from bottled gas and provides plenty of hot water on demand.
Entry into Santiago is through the wheelhouse which is equipped with the engine control panel, compass and steering wheel. The wheelhouse enjoys 360 degree views through her windows making it lovely place to sit and read or just relax on the cushioned bench seat which has a storage compartment underneath and the bench seat can also act as a single bed when needed.
From the wheelhouse you follow down the stairs to the living/kitchen area which has an L shape seating area, TV point, storage cuboards etc. The kitchen area has a stainless steel sink, 4 burner cooker/oven/grill and storage cupboards. There is also a cast iron wood burner that provides adequate heating when needed. Leading from this area towards the stern there is a small bathroom to one side with sink, shower and pump flush toilet and opposite is a large storage cupboard. Continuing past these you get to the cosy bedroom with built in bed and skylight. Towards the bow is the engine room which has the boxed engine, boiler, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge, freezer and lots of storage cupboard space.
On deck she has lots of space to sit and enjoy the views and weather. There is the original tug point, a deck hatch leading down into a large storage area, a small storage hatch, and a large deck hatch leading into the engine room, also she also has a useful hiab beam arm hoist.
