Premier Houseboats are pleased to present The Spirit of Loch Ness, a beautiful Dutch barge that has been completely stripped ready for conversion, offering a rare opportunity to create your own cruising home.
The Spirit of Loch Ness was dry docked in 2017, blasted back to bare metal , had a new bottom and was painted inside and out. She also had a new wheelhouse fitted, and is now ready for conversion. the space for conversion is sizeable, with room for at least three good sized bedrooms, family bathroom and an en suite, and a kitchen and large lounge.
The aft crews quarters are ideal to use whilst conversion is taking place. These quarters have a built in double berth, seating area, small galley and toilet cubicle that could be turned into a wet room fairly easily. Once the rest of the boat is converted, these quarters could become part of the main living area or be kept as a self contained flat. The wheelhouse would be superb if navigating, but can also double as a day lounge with panoramic views.
The spirit of Loch Ness has had an interesting history, from working barge, to houseboat, to a floating, cruising hotel on Loch Ness, before coming to Medway in 2017 to be dry docked, and her potential is huge. The 120 hp Daimler Benz diesel engine brought her to Medway under her own power, however has not run for a number of years and would obviously need servicing before considering cruising.
The opportunity to create a good sized family home on a hull that has been well maintained and treated is a rare one, the space available is superb, with full headroom throughout.
Should you wish to the roof could be replaced with a flat one to enable you to create a magnificent outside area allowing you to enjoy the stunning views available, without any real impact om the internal conversion.
The Spirit of Loch Ness offers a fantastic chance to create your own home afloat within the classic shape and look of a Dutch Barge, and together with a desirable mooring with excellent rail and road links, is an opportunity that shouldn't be missed.
