Pal has been lovingly hand-fitted with bespoke, wooden port-hole frames and two, custom-made wooden dog boxes (main cabin and bedroom cabin). There is elegant, wooden flooring from bow to stern. Pal’s layout has been designed for maximum space and ergonomic living. She is charming and practical, with features that make off-grid living and continuous cruising an ease.
Pal is divided into 4 sections, consisting of engine room (with disguised entrance via bedroom headboard for access into the engine room from within the boat), bedroom, bathroom and main living cabin, with extra space under the tug for an additional guest room or storage.
The bedroom has a king-size bed and wooden sideboards mounted either side. There is plenty of storage under the bed and two deep pull-out clothes drawers and a clothes cupboard (with optional lighting inside).
The bathroom can be closed off for privacy and is a fitted with a Whale Gulper 220 shower & bilge pump and the Morco D-61B gas boiler provides immediate hot water via instant propane heating. Two frosted portholes allow for natural light and added discretion.
The main cabin is incredibly spacious and a very comfortable living space that fills with natural light. The room comes with a wooden bench and a Made Lottie 2-Seater chalk grey sofa, which is perfect for sitting in front of the fire and relaxing. The side-window can be opened for fresh air or to watch canal life float by. An optional pull-out study desk has been built into the shelves next to the side-window, which is a peaceful spot for working. There are 3 x hand-fitted, wooden roof ventilation exits for the circulation of air throughout the boat.
Pal’s domestic utilities include a Waeco LR50 fridge and freezer, Zanussi 2 x hob stove (large and small gas rings) and a Thetford duplex oven (all manual spark) and has been fantastic for a couple living permanently on Pal. The sizeable kitchen top includes 4 x wine bottle holes, which have been built into the side panel. Five copper saucepans and copper utensils are included with Pal.
The room under the tug has been used for extra space or as a spare bedroom for guests. There is a fitted USB charger & battery voltage reader, predominantly used for mobile phone charge.
Warm, integrated eco-LED lighting is built into the tug, main cabin, bathroom and bedroom and mean that Pal always feels bright and can be lit in different rooms. There is an original brass ship’s lantern light (gas burner) in the main room and 2 x brass cage bulkhead covers for eco-LED lights in the bedroom, which add an elegant feature. The engine room also has an energy-saving light for use in darkness.
Pal has an original and rare, freestanding Coalbrookdale Little Wenlock stove in the main cabin (serviced in 2019) and a Faversham compact solid fuel cast iron cabin stove; both stove burners are very efficient during the winter (Pal is also foam-insulated and provides exceptional warmth). Pal also has 2 x Co9D 7-year life Co2 Alarms (3 years old currently) and all fire safety equipment (Co2 fire extinguishers and blankets). Coal and kindling buckets are included, and we can provide the numbers and names of reliable fuel suppliers (gas / coal / kindling / logs / diesel).
